Celebrating Denis Baylis
The Fellowship joined together with the Bedworth Society to celebrate the life of Denis Baylis, who sadly passed away in 2022
Held in the glorious setting of the Old Meeting United Reformed Church in Bedworth, the programme interleaved heartfelt and moving tributes from those who knew and loved Denis with musical pieces it was felt Denis himself would have approved and enjoyed.
Music included Schubert, Beethoven, Liszt and also the world premiere of a setting of George Eliot’s poem ‘The Choir Invisible’ by Rupert Jeffcoat. Rupert was joined by Lawrence White and Edmund White, providing organ, clarinet and voices. The performances were outstanding and very much appreciated by those assembled, the new piece being most enthusiastically received. All three musicians were keen to express their thanks for the warmth of response from the audience.
Tributes to Denis highlighted and celebrated the many facets of his life and character. Over refreshments and a display of photographs, people spoke freely and warmly about their own memories of Denis.
