Autumn Reading Group

""
The novel was published in 1848 under the pseudonym Acton Bell and its depictions of debauchery and alcoholism attracted attention and made the book an instant success.

It has been regarded by some as one of the first feminist novels, based on Helen Graham's decision to leave her husband and support both herself and her son by working as an artist.
