Ruth Livesey is an old friend of the Fellowship and a keen supporter of our activities. We are delighted that she will present the Annual Lecture this year.

Ruth joined the English Department at Royal Holloway University of London in 2002, became Professor in 2017 and Head of the English Department in 2020. Since May this year she has been Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation). Publications include Socialism, Sex and the Culture of Aestheticism in Britain, 1880-1914 (2007), and Writing the Stage Coach Nation: Locality on the Move in Nineteenth-Century British Literature (2016). She co-wrote for the Coventry City of Culture The Great Middlemarch Mystery (2022), an amazingly complex, fascinating multi-venued and thrilling event.
